Trailer Graphics for Martin’s Smoky Fire Truck

THE CLIENT

West Dorset Leisure Holidays are based in Dorset, located along the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Their five family-run holiday parks—Highlands End, Golden Cap, Graston Copse, Larkfield and Sandyholme—are all hugely popular tourist destinations in the South West with customers travelling from all over the country and beyond to pay a visit!

While staying at one of the parks, holidaymakers have the chance to explore the stunning and untouched Dorset coast and countryside. Each park has its own unique charm, all with something different to offer their guests—whether it’s peace and relaxation or a range of on-site activities and facilities.

For this brief, Creative Solution would be travelling to the Golden Cap Holiday Park where we would be taking a look at Martin’s Smoky Fire Truck, a new takeaway food trailer that had recently found a home on the site.

THE BRIEF

The client contacted the team here at Creative Solutions looking for some high-quality graphics for their brand new catering trailer. Initially, we went to conduct a site survey at Golden Cap, with the brief of converting a catering trailer into a fire truck. The unit’s artwork would be a thematic continuation of Martin’s Bar & Restaurant at Highlands End Holiday Park—a site we had recently provided a range of social distancing products for.

The theme? Fire engines.

Martin Cox, a member of the family who owns WDLH, and a former retained leading firefighter with the Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, is also one of the country’s most prominent private collectors of fire engines. Martin’s sizable collection has been built over the last three decades and the fire truck motif would very much be a primary design feature for this brief.

Creative Solutions have years of experience producing high-quality box trailer graphics. Whether it’s a unit like this that remains stationary in one location, or one that travels between events and trading spots, we can produce all manner of stunning, high-impact artwork to attract customers and promote your brand.

THE SOLUTION

The fire engine artwork for the trailer came as a vector file suitable for production and installation in large format digital print. The graphics were printed and cut for a precise fit for each section of the trailer; including the back door, side panels, and front area.

Part of the artwork brief was to 'cartoonize' Martin Cox's face, who would be sitting and waving in the front seat of the fire engine in full firefighting gear. It was important that Martin was a friendly and welcoming visual presence—a design element we certainly achieved.

The wrap for the catering trailer was full-colour printed in white vinyl and finished with a stunning gloss laminate for that extra dose of quality. Each stage of the project, from printing to installation, was completed at our unit in Axminster. The client was delighted with the finished product—particularly Martin Cox who thought we captured his likeness rather well!
