THE BRIEF
Welcoming Rural Art Feature for Visitors
Large display areas demand a highly visual installation, especially when making that first impression for visitors. The Symondsbury Estate Team and on-site businesses have always managed to seamlessly coordinate their branding and display pieces with an earthy and luxurious feel.
We have previously assisted the team by creating and installing several signage pieces and wall art, including the a wooden hanging signs for Home&Garden and a custom ACM Tray Sign for Estate Produce. This natural colour scheme and feel helps their displays blend into their beautiful location whilst also being instantly recognisable and welcoming.
We have also previously had the pleasure of creating custom coffee stencils for the cafe to engage the customer experience and raise it to the next level.
Being so well customed to the Estates needs allowed us on this occasion to really explore the options available, and recommend products and concepts that we knew would go above and beyond their expectations. For this piece, a sliding door sits in the Visitor Centre, beckoning customers through onto the estate. Measuring almost 2.5m square with different width returns on each side, the print needed to be perfectly centred to allow the design to seamlessly flow around each edge. Symondsbury designed and sent their watercolour, hand-drawn style piece to us, which we then can proof and scale to fit the space exactly. (See Proof Sheet Below).
Working with the wooden surface, we chose a high performance high-tack vinyl in a matt finish to create the piece from. This is then sectioned and cut into strips, not only for safer transportation and easier application, but if one part is damaged, it can easily be replaced without needing to re-do the whole task. This vinyl also has air release qualities, allowing the wood to breathe under the vinyl without sweating, contracting or expanding too much.
