THE CLIENT

In one of our most prominent projects to date, Creative Solutions was commissioned to create bespoke branding for the BBC Breakfast programme’s Election 2019 tuk tuk. The famous BBC coffee cart was provided by tuk tuk company Tukxi, who commissioned us to create the vehicle graphics which will be seen by millions of viewers over the next few weeks.

As BBC Breakfast pulls in vast viewing figures, this was a challenge we were really thrilled to have been set, and we worked closely with Tukxi to realise their visions.

THE BRIEF

Tukxi and the BBC wanted their coffee cart to stand out as it begins a nationwide tour ahead of the general election on December 12th. The cart will be stopping off in major towns and cities across the country, encouraging people to join the BBC team for a cup of coffee and to set out their questions for senior politicians.

The signwriting, therefore, needed to be eye-catching, as it had to draw in the crowds at each destination and stand out in the live TV broadcasts which air to millions every morning. This was a really unique brief set by one of the country’s most loved and respected broadcast institutions, and the design we came up with was bold, bright and beautiful.

THE RESULT

The coffee cart artwork features a dazzling orange background, with a black, line-drawn outline of the Palace of Westminster running around it. It also includes BBC Breakfast’s all-important social media handles and the hashtag #BBCYourQuestions, encouraging the public to enter the political debate in the build-up to the election.

The orange background mirrors the BBC Breakfast show’s own colour scheme, making the tuk tuk instantly recognisable, while the intricate Westminster outline is certainly an unmissable detail which conveys the political message. Once we’d finished work, both Tukxi and the BBC were delighted with the end result. This was one of the most public projects we have worked on to date, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to be involved in the BBC’s election coverage.
