Immersive Wall Graphics & Interior Branding for Waffle House Axminster
Waffle Axminster is a family-friendly, non-profit café created to build a sense of community in the area – with food, conversation and shared spaces at the heart of the experience.
To support that mission, the first-floor venue needed its interior to feel welcoming, playful and memorable for families, while still working as a practical space for day-to-day use. Our role was to deliver a set of large-scale, characterful wall graphics that would define key areas – especially the under-4s zone and the arcade corner – and make the space feel distinctly “Waffle”.
The challenge
The Axminster site combines multiple uses in one environment – café seating, a small play area, and community activity space. The graphics needed to:
-
Create a strong sense of place (so the play zone feels like a destination, not an add-on)
-
Work around architectural features like window reveals, corners, sockets and surface changes
-
Keep the overall feel light and friendly, without overwhelming the room
-
Use materials suited to a family setting – durable, cleanable, and consistent in finish
The solution
We designed and installed a layered set of environmental graphics, using large-format wall graphics to create two distinct experiences within the venue.
1) A bold “Waffle Play” arcade wall
In the games area, the goal was immediate impact. A high-contrast, illustration-led mural delivers a clear visual identity for the space, with vibrant colour accents and a playful cityscape that sits naturally behind the arcade machines. The artwork was produced and fitted as a large-scale wall covering, using print methods and materials aligned with self-adhesive vinyl where required for a crisp finish and strong edge definition.
2) A calming woodland wrap for the under-4s zone
To soften the corridor and play area, we created a continuous illustrated landscape featuring wildlife, foliage and gentle colour palettes – intentionally calmer than the arcade zone while still full of detail. The design was built to flow across long wall runs and around window sections, helping the space feel immersive rather than segmented. This kind of application often suits custom wallpaper printing or equivalent wide-format wall coverings, especially where a seamless, mural-like finish is key.
3) Careful detailing around site constraints
Across both zones, installation was handled with close attention to transitions and obstacles – ensuring alignment through corners, around pipework, and along skirting lines. This is where a well-planned wall-graphics approach pays off: the artwork still reads cleanly even when the architecture is doing its best to interrupt it.
What we delivered
A cohesive interior graphics package for Waffle House Axminster, including:
-
Large-scale illustrated feature murals produced and installed as wall graphics
-
Durable print solutions using self-adhesive vinyl where appropriate for clean edges and long-term practicality
-
Seamless, wraparound wall coverage suited to custom wallpaper printing and wide-format mural applications
-
On-site fitting and finishing, including trimming, alignment and detailing around architectural constraints
The outcome
The space now has clearer visual “zones” – with a high-energy arcade corner and a calmer, immersive play-area environment – while still feeling like one connected venue. The graphics strengthen Waffle’s identity inside the building and help the Axminster site deliver on its purpose: creating an inviting place where families can spend time, feel comfortable, and connect.
