Symondsbury Estate

Symondsbury Estate is set into the Dorset countryside, just a few miles from the Jurassic Coast. It’s a 1,500-acre estate owned by the Colfax family. Their picturesque farmhouses, cottages and lodges are the perfect base from which to explore Dorset, and many are just a short stroll from Symondsbury Village.

Symondsbury Estate is an eclectic place to visit, with a country shop, and lush open countryside. It also offers areas of the site as a wedding venue, holiday cottage rental, and a place for events and talks throughout the year.

We have had the pleasure of working with Symondsbury over the years creating bespoke signage including a hanging wooden sign, a custom slate-effect ACM sign, as well as a custom vinyl overlay for a sliding door.

THE BRIEF

A Sleek, Custom Signage Creation

Working with Symondsbury Estate over the years, we have a firm grasp on the organisations branding, look and feel when they are adding to their signage and displays. The team contacted Creative Solutions wanting a new suspended aluminium tray sign for their visitors centre, and wanted it to feature the distinctive tree logo, typography and directional arrow.

Aluminium tray signs can provide a much more distinctive aesthetic than a standard aluminium panel sign. For a well-known and highly professional yet rustic organisation (think National Trust), such as Symondsbury Estate, where design and presentation is everything, they’re the ideal choice. With an eye-catching 3D effect, no visible fixings joining the two trays together, and a clear and precise logo print, the tray sign has a stunning visual impact. The sign is also highly adaptable, offering an almost unlimited variation of size, shape and depth.

As well as the clear aesthetic qualities of the sign, they also have physical attributes which make it a perfect outdoor display. Aluminium tray signs are not subject to rust, corrosion or fading. They can be powder coated in any colour and, because of their natural rigidity, tray signs do not require a frame. This sign in particular was powder-coated black all over, with the vinyl overlays applied before installation. The two trays are then rivetted together, and a bespoke U-bracket was also created and powder coated to allow the sign to suspend from the wooden beam above with now visible fixings on the tray sign.

Aluminium tray signs are a stylish, modern signage option and a versatile product; it can be used on the exterior fascias of corporate and public buildings, schools, retail outlets, industrial units and plenty more besides, or like here, customised into something completely new to fit long-term outdoor wayfinding.
