COVID Protection Screens for West Dorset Leisure

THE CLIENT

Based in Dorset, along the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast, West Dorset Leisure Holidays oversee five family-run holiday parks: Highlands End, Golden Cap, Graston Copse, Larkfield and Sandyholme. These are all much-loved tourist destinations in the South West where holidaymakers of all ages travel from miles around to pay a visit.

Their parks offer the unique chance to explore the beautiful and unspoiled Dorset coastline and countryside. Each West Dorset Leisure location has something different to offer their guests—whether it’s peace and tranquility or a variety of on-site activities.

Creative Solutions have worked on numerous projects for West Dorset Leisure over the years. For this brief, we would be travelling to the Highlands End Holiday Park and the newly-refurbished Cowshed restaurant.

THE BRIEF

There’s no doubt that the coronavirus pandemic has put tremendous pressure on UK businesses in the last twelve months. Perhaps more than most, the catering and hospitality industry has felt the strain as premises across the country have been forced to close their doors while government restrictions remain in place.

Now, as lockdown begins to ease throughout April, and Devon and Dorset restaurants like The Cowshed begin to reopen to the public, it’s up to business owners to ensure that they can do so safely and in accordance with government guidelines. To help local businesses address these challenges, Creative Solutions have created a whole range of COVID-19 display products, visual communication and protection systems.

Among the most important considerations for restaurants is the promotion of social distancing between customers and staff; to prevent the spread of germs when transactions and interactions are made within the premises. Our range of custom-made protective screens and prevention systems can be placed in a variety of locations within a restaurant—at checkouts, on bars or service areas, and in dining rooms.

For The Cowshed, the brief was to create custom acrylic protection screens which could be installed at the payment counter. We got straight to work!

THE SOLUTION

First order of business was to conduct a site visit to the Cowshed and finalize the client’s specific requirements for the protection screen. Whilst on location, we would also take precise measurements of the desk to ensure the product would fit. The crucial function of the custom till counter screen is to protect staff and customers and allow the restaurant to reopen safely.

After designing the product, based on the client’s specific brief, the 6mm clear acrylic protection screens were custom-cut in-house on our Esko router. The screens came with a precisely cut transaction hatch with radius corners for a smooth, rounded finish. The beauty of clear acrylic is that it can be cut to any custom shape to suit any purpose.

The screen itself was installed using screw-down clamps which holds the product firmly in place. Once again, we were able to provide West Dorset Leisure with a high-quality product. Now the Cowshed can open its doors knowing it has the correct social distancing and safety measures in place.
