External Custom Noticeboard Display for Westward Ho! Men's Shed

THE CLIENT

Westward Ho! Men's Shed has become a staple community service provider in the seaside village of Westward Ho!, South Devon. The team of members were forged roughly 2 years ago by a shared need of a social hub and creative outlet, with the goal of creating pieces that would serve their community.

This band of Merry Men offer a great deal of support and community-spirit to Westward Ho!, from external signage erection, to wood working, craftwork; and mosaic pieces (coming soon)!

THE BRIEF

Recently a local councillor approached the Men's Shed, and asked if they could provide a noticeboard for the village to display the area, and important information to share with the community. The main requirement was that it would have a long life span, and be able to withstand the external environment of a coastal resort.

We knew the Men's Shed Team would be able to install, so with their artwork ready, it was just a case of offering a helping hand to select the best materials and products to bring the piece to life. As Devon-dwellers ourselves, we know the wear and tear external signage can have so close to the sea, and offered materials based on their brief. With all the components in hand and the artwork ready for the printer.

IMAGES BELOW (Left) Here you can see our In-House Design Team tweaking the Village's Logo to fit perfectly within an opal-shaped cut of aluminium composite material (ACM) to sit at the head of the notice board. With all design briefs, we will not go to print until we get your sign-off, and can re-work any artwork until you're 100% happy.

THE SOLUTION

We had previously supplied the Men's Shed team with 2 Classic Magnetic External Noticeboards, fitted to ether side of the sunken-post aluminium sign. You can see their creative genius in flipping one of these 180degrees so the keylock system is mirrored on either side!

The raised gold effect lettering was created from ACM with a gold full-colour print, and matte laminate applied to the face of each letter. These are supplied with a self-adhesive backing, ready for application straight away! The Westward Ho! Logo is also created in the same way. We boast the benefits of ACM as a lightweight, long-term signage solution due to its rigidity and 2 sheets of aluminium sandwiching a dense polyethylene core. When a full-colour print is applied under a matte or gloss laminate, this can last up to and over 7-years in any outdoor environment!

The team at Westward Ho! Men's Shed are to be commended for their time on this project, as once received, all components were constructed and erected on site by the members. It was a pleasure to share our product and material knowledge with the team to help bring this project to fruition.
