External Signs for The River Cottage Stores, Axminster

River Cottage operates award-winning restaurants in Axminster, Bristol, Plymouth and Winchester. Their restaurant in Axminster is located in the heart of the town, just a short journey from the beautiful Jurassic coast.

THE BRIEF

Produce a new sign for the shop front

River Cottage contacted us while modernising their restaurants to Kitchen & Delis. They were looking to change the sign and lettering on their Axminster restaurant.

We were asked to produce signage for the shop that could be used as a temporary fix while the shop front was redesigned. We were asked to produce a durable outdoor sign to replace the old one. Our designers recommended a sign with stand-off stainless steel lettering so that it would stand out.

We were asked to design the new sign in line with the River Cottage brand and install it on the shop front once finished.

THE SOLUTION

Expert design, manufacture & installation

We met with the client to discuss what they wanted, together we drew up a few ideas in our heads and went away to draw up mock-ups for them. We presented several options to River Cottage who in the end chose a design in-keeping with their other restaurants. The proofs we supplied were very well received.

We got to work manufacturing the new sign the next day. The stainless-steel letters were produced in-house and have a corrosion guarantee. These were fixed using brass locators which were welded to the back of the stainless-steel letters. Fixing was completed mechanically using bolts, nuts and a spanner. The result is a new shop front sign that stands out, has exceptional durability and can be moved if required.

We installed the sign onsite ourselves. A two-person installation team (Matt and Jedd) got the job done within a few hours. The sign looks superb up high on the shop. River Cottage is delighted with the sign and the service we provided.
