Longstanding client, The Seaside Boarding House, are a celebrated and distinct hotel, restaurant and bar nestled on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The business overlooks the stunning sweep of Lyme Bay, nestled in the beautiful and unspoilt county of Dorset.

A place to relax and recharge by the sea, the creators originally from London and the renowned 'Groucho Club' (a Private Members Club in Soho), wanted to create an antidote to the city life in the Seaside Boarding House. The perfect getaway, holiday or just a (very) long lunch destination.

THE BRIEF

Expanding The Signage Portfolio

The team at The Seaside Boarding House (SSBH) got in touch with a detailed brief explaining new signage they would like to see around the site to help visitors and guests better navigate their way to this seaside haven.

This included two large panel signs both complete with a fitted slider sign underneath to easily change the display between 'CLOSED' and, 'CLOSED FOR PRIVATE EVENT', as well as a highly visible parking sign on an arrow to direct clients.

The SSBH Team were able to provide their branding guidelines for colours and fonts, as well as accurate measurements to size up and create each signage installation. We understand not all clients are able to do this, which is exactly why we have an experienced and friendly Estimators Team who can conduct a site-visit with you to talk about your project, an in-house Graphic Design Team to digitise your artwork vision, and an extremely capable Installations Team to put your signage and displays in situ!

THE SOLUTION

Traditional Aluminium Panel Signs

With all external signage, the level of exposure to all types of weather, and changes in temperature from direct sunlight or outdoor spotlighting needs to be taken into consideration. In this case, the added factor of being so close to the sea meant the signage needed to be incredibly hard-wearing, resistant to rust and salt, and UV-treated and professionally installed to handle the more extreme weather coming directly off the sea.

Wanting nothing but the best, and a fail-safe signage material, the SSBH team opted for the traditional and long-lasting aluminium panel post-mounted signs, each specifically tailored to its location. 3 signs in total were produced; a flat panel sign with fixing channels to be attached to an existing flag pole (see images above), a sliding panel sign for the main entrance gate fixed to existing posts, as well a panel sign with new post ground-sunk for visitor navigation.

Our aluminium panel signage is 2.5mm thick as standard and can be cut to any size or shape required with our state-of-the-art water-jet cutter.

Once prepped your panel can then be fitted with channels on the rear for post mounting, or drilled for wall-mounted or projecting signs. Another added feature is channels on the front to support a changeable sliding panel. This panel can be tailored to any size to show opening times and hours, if your business is closed, events, contact details - anything your require.

For that well-known long-lasting finish, we will then powder coat all panels in any RAL colour of your choosing.

Your signage design is then printed and mounted onto the prepared panel ready for installation. Vinyl applications are guaranteed for up to 7 years outdoors, and the aluminium signage is known to last 25+ years!

For SSBH, their main signage piece was powder-coated white front and back, with their decals and text in dark gloss blue. The sliding panel colours were inverted, powder-coated in dark blue, with a white gloss vinyl lettering applied on both sides.

RAL Colour Powder-Coated Posts

We can supply all posts, fixings and ground fixing concrete for pole systems for a complete signage installation, providing round, oval, rectangular or square posts in any RAL colour to suit your branding and sign size. Here we use one 75 x 75mm square post at 2000mm long, powder-coated to RAL9016 Traffic White. This is then fitted with a matching post-cap to finish the installation for the PARKING signage arrow tidily.
