Woodroffe School

Woodroffe School, a prestigious comprehensive based in Lyme Regis, Dorset, was founded by local landowner and academic, Alban Woodroffe MBE.

In the early 1930s, Woodroffe presided over the building of the original hillside site of the school, with its breathtaking views of the harbour town of Lyme Regis. The school was first opened as a mixed grammar, enrolling students from the rural and coastal regions of West Dorset and East Devon.

Now, Woodroffe is a fully modern comprehensive school with a varied and balanced curriculum. As an important hub of learning in the area, the school looks to promote equality and inclusiveness, while making sure that every Woodroffe student has the chance to advance, develop and realize their full potential.

THE BRIEF

Building Name Signs

The team at Woodroffe completed the mammoth task of updating their branding a couple of years ago, and have been slowly chipping away updating the schools internal and external displays and signage to present their new logo and brand identity.

The next on the project list was two external building name signs that had began to fail from years facing the elements, and were ready to display the schools updated branding.

As the signs needed to be completely replaced, we were easily able to gather measurements for the installation sites, and with Woodroffe's digital artwork files in-hand, easily scaled these to size and sent back a digital artwork proof for the team to sign-off on before production. - If you do not have artwork, do not worry! You can work with our talented internal graphic designers to produce your signage and displays with your artwork brief.

Refacing Old Signage

Giving your signage new life with an updated graphic is a great option if the base panel is in good shape!

Woodroffe had also commissioned a signage reface for their main external fence-mounted sign outside of the main entrance leading to the school. The base panel was in great condition so our team could remove the old vinyl display from the ACM panel, and replace with an updated high-tack self-adhesive graphic displaying the new branding, guaranteed for another 7 years.

THE SOLUTION

Woodroffe Schools 'Thornton Pearn Studio' sign was a size-match creation to fit within the original drill holes, and supplied in two panels for ease of installation and weight bearing on the wall. The 'Waters Study Centre' due to its smaller size was able to be created from one panel to fit the fascia area of the building.
