Catering Van Design
The journey of transforming a catering van begins with a blank canvas and a wealth of imagination.
Upon receiving the progress update from the RDUH Team, it was evident that their initial design concepts had undergone committee feedback sessions. Regrettably, the feedback was not favourable, with comments indicating that the designs were uninspiring, dull, and messy.
Version 3 - Building upon the existing design concepts, the team collaborated to refine elements that showed promise. The focus shifted towards capturing the essence of a coffee shack, incorporating a coffee cup motif and adapting the TLC logo to resemble branding on wooden panelling.
Version 4 - Following feedback on the new design, it became evident that the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity logo and branding were becoming less prominent. It was clear that a larger portion of the truck design needed to highlight the charity's services, hard work, and ongoing mission. It was decided that the coffee shack styling should be eliminated to make room for a brighter, more inviting, and on-brand atmosphere that complemented both the RDUH and RDHC branding.
Version 5 - Incorporating the vibrant colours of the charity's logo and the hospital's branding, we crafted a design that seamlessly integrated with the van's contours while conveying a sense of warmth and accessibility.
Final Version - After refining the two main van sides and reintroducing the coffee bean imagery, the final design concept successfully showcased the best elements. Motivational imagery and encouraging slogans surrounded the prominent TLC logo, while a coloured swoosh wrapped around the vehicle, creating a neat yet fun, bright, and eye-catching appearance. The design was poised to energise the workforce across all sites during its rounds.
