THE CLIENT

DU Waterscapes place themselves as the first choice for pond and water feature design, construction and maintenance in the Devon and Somerset area. They endeavour to cater for every aquatic need that their clients may have and do so with a wealth of experience in both academic and practical skills to create stunning designs.

Their aim is to transform and enhance the landscape they are given into the oasis of their client's dreams with professionally crafted water features and a keen eye for design. From the moment a client contacts them with a design idea, their team endeavour to bring the idea to life and go the extra mile in ensuring they have an in-depth understanding of their customer's requirements. They also provide maintenance for existing water features that are tailored to the client's specific needs, these maintenance schedules are operated in agreement with the customer and a range of packages are on offer from repairs to full lake management.

The company are inspired by nature and aim to design and work in unison with the native environment so the new water features blend into their surroundings. They believe that their clients should be able to sit back, relax, and get full enjoyment from their aquatic paradise.

THE BRIEF

DU Waterscapes came initially to the Creative Solutions Studio for a logo redesign. our designers set about planning the vehicle livery. In the creation of the client's new logo our studio already had some design ideas in mind that could be utilised for the vehicle and match in perfectly with the brand assets. The vehicle in question was their company van, a Black VW Transporter Panel Van.

During our initial design consultation with the client, it became clear that they did not want to be constrained by a budget. The main goal was that they wanted an eye-catching design that really enhanced their brand and shows off the new logo. The client was well aware that an investment in their branding and getting it on the road would act as the most cost-effective form of advertising travelling with them from job to job and acting as a mobile billboard once they were on-site with a client.

THE SOLUTION

The vehicle itself had a black base colour so the colours that immediately came to mind were white and either a light blue or green. As green was already used in the clients logo, our designers opted to use this as the main colour, with the addition of white to make the design 'pop'.

Having done vehicle designs for a number of years now, our studio know that imagery is not necessarily the only way to go with livery as in some cases it can look outdated very quickly, The secret is always to keep things simple, so using clean lines and iconic bespoke illustrative shapes were the best decisions to take. This meant that bright 7 year guarentee cut-vinyl was used to create a clean, professional and dynamic look that will have great longevity. This was even more important in DU Waterscapes case as design is also the key to demonstrating their skill set to potential customers.

Having said the above, the studio still wanted to create a visually engaging design that attracts attention, so we created a garden waterscape illustration design to run along the base of the vehicle. Including items from the logo but also bringing in elements that the client actually uses within their water landscaping, we wanted the feel to be playful and customer engaging for maximum impact.

The application and preperation for the installation of the graphics for this vehicle was quite extensive with lots of elements, this required a keen eye for detail in application to match the design we created.
