Motorbike Graphics for DocBike

THE CLIENT

The Dorset Doctor Bike project is the brainchild of PC Chris Smith, from Dorset Police BikeSafe, and Dr. Ian Mew, an intensive care and air ambulance doctor.

Originally, the focus of the initiative was to equip the local motorcycle community with key life-saving skills; knowledge and expertise that might prove vital at the scene of a road accident. This would be achieved by offering Biker Down courses, an interactive trauma aid skills session, at BikeSafe events across Dorset.

Not content with simply offering training to riders of all ages and experience levels, Dr. Ian Mew had ambitions to take the project to the roadside and so...Dorset DocBike was born.

Through Dorset Police, PC Chris Smith was able to source a BMW police-spec motorcycle and rebranded it as the country’s first mobile ‘Doctor’ bike.

THE BRIEF

Currently, DocBike is based exclusively in the Dorset area, but as the scope of the charity expands, so does the reach of its service. More and more motorbikes are being sent out across the country in 2020, offering critical roadside care.

It was against this backdrop that Dr. Ian Mew emailed Creative Solutions about the idea of us providing some reflective decals for their bikes. As well as creating an iconic DocBike logo—the winged red badge found on all of their branding—Ian was looking for us to supply ‘Doctor’ graphics for specific areas of the bike.

The client was able to send us a high-resolution PDF of the logo, so we could get started on creating the product.

THE SOLUTION

We supplied the client with a set of ‘Doctor’ graphics. The primary concern of the lettering was that it needed to be clear and easily-identifiable—hence the bold, block capitals. For extra visibility, the graphics were printed in reflective green and red vinyl. The set consisted of one green ‘Doctor’ vinyl print, which was curved to fit the front panel of the bike; two green ‘Doctor’ prints for the side panniers, and one red ‘Doctor’ for the rear.

In addition, and working from Ian’s high-resolution PDF, we provided the client with a set of three full-colour printed matte laminate vinyl decals of the DocBike logo; this too came with a reflective finish.

The client couldn’t have been happier with the overall look of the decals; the red and black detailing on the white background is sharp and distinguished, and sits perfectly with the existing branding of the charity. Ian informed us that he would be making more orders very soon!
